Opaque save/load with > 256 columns

#1

Awhile back*, I reported an issue with doing opaque saves/loads of arrays with more than 256 columns in SciDB 13.3 - there is a workaround, but it’s fairly painful. I’m wondering whether this issue has been fixed in any current release, and whether I can upgrade an existing database from 13.3 to said release without having to jump through an opaque save/load.

Many thanks,
Tim

Hi Tim.

Yes the good news is that the new 13.9 had an opaque format change that fixes the bug you reported.
Unfortunately, you can’t go straight from 13.3 to 13.9, and 13.9 won’t accept the old opaque files created by 13.3. So, to upgrade from 13.3 to 13.9, the fastest way might be to do a parallel save/load in csv format – or simply reload your data into 13.9 back from source.

Do you have a lot of data loaded that cannot be easily re-obtained?

Alex:

I’m happy to hear this issue has been fixed, and I should be able to reload the data. Many thanks for the prompt reply, and apologies for my slow response.

Cheers,
Tim
