How to 'clean' storage.header files?

#1

Hi,

I’ve removed all previous arrays from scidb using iquery -aq “remove(x)”, but still each of the storage.header -files (x 4) hold ~16 gigs of data. Is there a way to force a ‘garbage disposal’ of sorts?

The empty space in this file will be re-used by future arrays.

You can do

scidb.py stopall [my db name]
scidb.py initall [my db name]

And that will erase all data and give you a clean database.

You can also use parallel opaque save and load to back up data before initall and restore it after. Also take a look at /opt/scidb/15.12/bin/scidb_backup.py

I know this area of the product is going to change in the next release - I’ll forward this question to the engineers for more information.
