Creating new SciDB database

#1

Hi

Now I have a shiny new multi-TB disk and want to create a new SciDB database on it. So I’ve edited my config.ini file to include a new section for the database teradb. The only difference between this section and the config section for my existing db is that I have changed the base-path to:

Now, when I run the command

I get the response
checking (server 0 (localhost) local instance 0) …
Found 0 scidb processes
This will delete all data and reinitialize storage [n]|y: y
init(server 0 (localhost) local instance 0)
Initializing local scidb instance/storage.

Cleaning up old logs and storage files.
Removing data directory /media/sf_LACIE_DRIVE/teradb/000/0 on server 0 (localhost), local instance 0
ln: creating symbolic link `SciDB-000-0-teradb’: Read-only file system
Abnormal return code: 1
error in command ln -fs /opt/scidb/13.3/bin/scidb SciDB-000-0-teradb:
despite user scidb having rwx access to the directory specified in the base-path

I’ve scanned this forum for clues but got nowhere.

Any suggestions ?

Regards

Mark

I encounter roughly the same problem when I installed scidb. Can you mount your drive, maybe ~/scidb first?
